We began our escorted walk in Basel in the rain. The best place to visit first would, of course, be a unique water feature!
Kevin pauses to talk and it's still raining!
You know me and my hair; I'm not wearing a rain hat!
This beautiful church in Basel is now a Protestant Church. It was originally Catholic, but when the Protestants broke away, they took over this church.
We are at the back side of the church which overlooks the Rhine River and, yes, it is still raining!
This ferry doesn't have a motor. It crosses the river using a rudder, hanging on, by rope, to a rope that is across the river.
This is a statue of a Basilisk, which is created when a "rooster" lays three eggs, has to be in snake poop (according to our tour director) and then they hatch. When you look at it eye to eye, you turn to stone.
This is the front of city hall in Basel. Oh, it's still raining!
We had to hike back to ship after tour of Basel. Someone told the bus driver he could go home. The bus was supposed to be running a shuttle every 30 minutes. Grand Circle felt bad about that and gave us champagne and chocolates.
We left Basel late afternoon, cruising to Strasbourg. This is the first of over thirty locks we will go through.
This shows us at a lower level.
Next to a few of the locks are hydroelectric plants like this one.

Boo for rain but yay for champagne and chocolates!!!
