Saturday in Strasbourg

Of course, our city walking tour includes the local Notre Dame Cathedral!

The highlight of Strausbourg is the Notre Dame cathedral in the center of the city.  This is the pipe organ inside hanging off the left wall.  It had to be added at a later date because the cathedral was started in the year 1050 ad.  The top spire on top the cathedral  that reaches over 400ft in the air was also added after the original construction finisihed around 1500.  While we were here they were celebrating the 1000th birthday of this magnificent building.   This is a Catholic cathedral.  The masses are celebrated in a combination of French and German language at any given mass.

We toured a section of the city by boat. Notice many of the buildings have German influence. Control of this area of France changed from Germany to France many times, many years ago.

We are all looking up at...

...this building. Again, German influence.

Oh, by the way, today's weather is beautiful.

Kim and Deedee in front of the wishing well.  Cathedral in background.

This pic was taken with the selfie stick looking at the front doors of the Notre Dame cathedral.

Yes, it does not matter where we go. A line to the girls room. Of course the men went straight in.

Waiting for the train to return to the boat, we were delayed at least 60 minutes while an organized protest blocked the train tracks! They were protesting the use of animals for testing purposes. 1600 monkeys to be exact at a research center in town.  We had to walk an extra 2 miles to get back to ship.
