Saturday in Zell, Germany and Luxembourg

We docked in the town of Zell, However, we did not do a town stroll first thing. Instead we took a bus to Luxembourg, a whole new country, then in the capital town of Luxembourg we took a tour. Luxembourg is comprised of less than 1,000 square miles. This statue lies in Constitution Plaza.

This is the new section of the Cathedral that was added in 1937.

This is a picture of the old section of the Cathedral that was began in 1603, as a Jesuit Church.

The columns in the old section are quite impressive!

This is a statue of the Grand Duchess Charlotte who ruled from 1911 to 1964 when she was exiled.

This is the Grand Duke's palace in Zell.

This is a statue of Wilhelm II.

We are standing in a market square. I shopped for a few hand painted magnets you can see over Kim's shoulder,

We were very lucky to be touring this US Cemetery on Memorial Day.  It was a very special day.  The U.S. And Luxembourg governments were represented along with military from both countries.  We had an F16 flyover after the opening prayers.

This is His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Luxembourg, laying a wreath.

Two couples from our ship placed wreaths; one couple in honor of his uncle, one in honor of his father, who is buried here.

There was a 21 gun salute.

This is the grave of General George Patton in Luxembourg at the U.S. military graveyard where over 5000 U.S. troops are buried.

When we got back from Luxembourg we strolled through Zell really quick before the ship left the port.  Zell was founded by the Romans in the first century. It is in the heart of the biggest wine-producing regions of Germany. It is well known for its vintages, which purportedly date to 2000 years ago, called Zell's Black Cat after the town's most famous feline.
